Jack Stannard

Dear all,

Mr. Jack Stannard died today aged 92.

John Robert Reginald Stannard (Jack).

Jack was born 28th February 1921.

Jack became a Cub Scout Leader on 20/09/1939 and went on the be Scout Leader from 1947 to 1951 the Group Scout Leader of Barnard Castle 51 - 86 then District Commissioner of Teesdale from 1979 until 1986 and honorary Scouter from 1986.

Jack was awarded..

1957 The Medal of Merit
1968 Bar to the Medal of Merit
1977 Silver Acorn
1985 Silver Wolf

Jack was presented with the Chief Scouts 40 years service award in 1999.

It is impossible to measure the Scouting service of Jack in any way or by any gauge. Jack will be sorely missed by many.

Funeral arrangements, when known, will be passed to Jeff.

I am a firm believer that no-one actually dies until everyone who knew them, who was affected or influence by them is gone. In Jacks case this will be an awful long time.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time and tonight the sky is blessed with another star.

John Moore
District Commissioner
Teesdale Scout District.

Beaver Sleep Over

Hi All

Hope you are all relaxing after a busy beaver sleepover. What a fantastic time we have had, which is of course down to a fantastic team !

Thank you all so much for providing a fun time for our beavers. I think they all enjoyed their time with us. It was great to see them mixing with each other and also enjoying the activities we offered them

We have some lovely children in our groups, and some of that is down to our leaders and helpers.

If you have any receipts for expenses for the weekend, can you please scan and send me them so I can do the final account for Rebekah
Thank you Young Leaders Jacob, Rachel, James, and both Ben's
Please can you forward this on to anyone else who was a part of our weekend

Thank You once again

Award of Merit to John Little.

I am sure you will all join me in congratulating John on him being awarded the Award of Merit by the Scout Association.

The award reflects John's contribution to Scouting before he came to Durham and his many years with 9th Durham, 19th Durham and Framwellgate Moor Groups which has grown tremendously under John's leadership as GSL.

In addition he has contributed greatly to the District in his new role as District Commissioner and it recognises his contribution to the development of Canoeing over the last 10 years in the County.

Congratulations John.
