ADC Beavers

After many years as ADC Beavers Janice has decided to stand down from the role (but will continue as Beaver Leader at Gilesgate). A big thank you to Janice for all her hard work in the ADC role.

The ADC role is an important one which involves supporting Beaver Leaders in the District and coordinating the District Beaver Program. The role can potentially be split. If you would be interested in the role or would like to find out more about the role please let me know. Alternatively if you know someone else who you think would be good at the role please let me know.

County AGM

The County AGM will take place on Tuesday 21st October 2014, starting at 7:30pm in the Main Hall at Moor House.

We will be celebrating the achievements of our County over the last year, reviewing the annual report and accounts and looking to the future as part of the 2018 vision.

Just a reminder that in line with the changes we made in 2012, our AGM will be low-key business meeting as our public-facing effort is now focused on our Awards and Confido events.

Please feel free to distribute this invite to your members.

Please RSVP to agm@durhamscouts.org.uk.

I look forward to welcoming you to the AGM.

Joint Camp

19th Durham and 15th Durham Cubs have had a weekend at Dilston Campsite this weekend. We arrived on the Friday night and set up camp. On the Saturday Morning we did the BP walk where we invested 2 Cubs. We then returned to site and made flags and boats. After “trying” to float them down the river we did a wide game and had a campfire. On the Sunday the Cubs created secret messages to send.

Cubs for County awards Day

Can I ask if anyone has some Cubs they can spare for the sessions at 09:00. 10:30 and 12:00. They are needed for a 'Moving On' skit during the Beaver presentations, like Scouts it would be best if they all came from the same group with a 'can do' attitude and it may be a good idea if they weren't due to receive awards.

Scouts for County Awards Day

At the County awards ceremony on Saturday 20 September we are once again planning on doing a 'moving on' section in Awards 2014 to promote the opportunities available in the next section.

We are therefore are looking for some helpers for each session:

6 Scouts - 13:30, 15:30 and 17:00 (who will need a packed lunch)

It would be best if they all came from the same group with a 'can do' attitude and t may be a good idea if they weren't due to receive awards.

Please contact Gill Forth if you have a set of Scouts who are willing and able to take part in this year's event

Free building surveying service

I thought while not directly relevant to Scouting that this offer was probably worth sharing:
